Billy Preston est mort
On s'en doutait un peu, mais c'est vraiment triste d'apprendre cette nouvelle
Surtout quand on voit ça sur son site officiel (je ne sais pas s'ils parlent de 2006 remarquez)
Billy will be taping "Later with Jools" while in London on June 7th.

Thank's for your music, man'

Re: Billy Preston est mort
Billy Preston was probably best known for his work with The Beatles (he is the only artist to receive label credit on a Beatles single: "Get Back"; The Beatles also released an early single with Tony Sheridan, but that is regarded as a Tony Sheridan single on which the Beatles played). He played on their 1970 Let It Be album and on the songs "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Something", from 1969's Abbey Road. Signed to The Beatles' Apple label, in 1969 Preston released the album That's The Way God Planned It and a single of the same name (produced by George Harrison). His relationship with Harrison continued after the break up of The Beatles, with Preston making notable and energetic contributions to The Concert For Bangladesh, a Harrison-organised charity concert, and, after George's death, The Concert For George. Preston also worked on solo recordings by Harrison and two other ex-Beatles, John Lennon and Ringo Starr.
After The Beatles, Preston played keyboards for The Rolling Stones, alongside pianist Nicky Hopkins. Preston appears on the Stones' albums Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, Goats Head Soup, It's Only Rock'n Roll and Black & Blue. He toured as a support act with the Stones in 1973, and recorded his live album Live in Europe in Munich with Mick Taylor on guitar. In 1975 and 1976 he again toured with the Stones, this time getting to play two of his own songs, backed by the Stones, in the middle of every concert. The Stones and Preston parted company in 1977, mainly due to a row over money. He continued to play on solo records by Stones members, and made an appearance again on the Stones' 1997 Bridges to Babylon album.
The 1980s were lean years for Preston. He was arrested and convicted for insurance fraud after setting fire to his own house in Los Angeles, and he was treated for alcohol and cocaine addictions. Preston managed to conquer his problems in the early 1990s, and toured with Eric Clapton, and recorded with a wide range of artists.
Preston played piano/organ on the song "Warlocks" for the Red Hot Chili Peppers album Stadium Arcadium released in 2006. Although very ill, he jumped out of bed after hearing a tape of the song given to him by the band, recorded his part, and went back to bed[1]. Preston's final contribution was playing Gospel-tinged organ on the Neil Diamond album, "12 Songs".

The Fifth Beatle," Billy Preston, died of kidney failure today in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to Fox News. He was 59, and had been in a coma for the past eight months.
Preston was diagnosed in May 2001 with kidney failure due to high blood pressure and anemia. He was admitted to a Nashville hospital due to severe leg pain, and was originally diagnosed with phlebitis. He underwent outpatient dialysis treatments and had a kidney transplant in 2002.
The Houston native, who was a child prodigy on organ and piano, did session work with The Beatles on their Let It Be album. He appears in the famous rooftop scene of the group performing "Get Back." He is also on their "Abbey Road" album, George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" album and was a keyboardist for George's Concert for Bangla Desh, John Lennon's "Plastic Ono Band" album and the single "Oh My My" on Ringo Starr's "Ringo" album. Ringo once said, "Billy is the incredible musician of life. You come to realize that if Billy is reading a book, eating a sandwich and playing, he still outplays us all. He's so good." Preston also toured and recorded with The Rolling Stones. His own single, Outa-Space, won a Grammy in 1972. His most notable songwriting hit is "You Are So Beautiful," sung by Joe Cocker.
Billy Preston was born on September 2nd, 1946. He was raised in Los Angeles, and was playing organ by 10. He toured with Little Richard when he was 15, and was a regular cast member on Shindig. With his signature afro and toothy grin, he acted in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, starring alongside the Bee-Gees and Peter Frampton, and in The Blues Brothers with Dan Aykroyd.
In 1997, Preston began a three-year jail sentence for a parole violation for carrying a deadly weapon and cocaine possession. After his stint in jail, he continued his musical career and toured with Eric Clapton in 2001.

Mick Jagger said: "Billy was a fantastic and gifted musician... a superb singer in both recording sessions and on stage.
"He was great fun to be with on stage when touring with us and I will miss him a lot."
Ringo Starr said: "Billy was an incredible musician and an incredible man who will be missed. As Billy said, that's the way God planned it."

Music legends turn out for Preston
(Wednesday June 21, 2006 08:29 AM)
Joe Cocker sang, Little Richard reminisced, and hundreds of friends and relatives of Billy Preston celebrated his musical legacy during a funeral as vibrant as Preston himself at Inglewood, California.
A brass band played a rollicking version of Amazing Grace during a service filled with tributes to the prolific songwriter and keyboardist who played with the Beatles so often he was sometimes called the fifth member of the group.
Preston died on June 6 in Scottsdale, Arizona, at age 59. He battled chronic kidney failure, received a kidney transplant in 2002 and had been in a coma since November.
"He made that piano walk and talk," said Richard, who discovered Preston, then in high school, took him on tour in the early 1960s and introduced the teen prodigy to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
"There's nobody in this world who could play the piano like Billy Preston. He never got the credit he deserved. He made other people look good," Richard told the crowd in the Faithful Central Bible Church's Tabernacle Worship Center.
Earlier, Cocker elicited emotional shouts and thunderous applause when he sang the ballad You Are So Beautiful, which Preston wrote but was made famous by the raspy-voiced singer.
A gospel choir clad in bright red sang throughout the almost three-hour service, and at one point, Preston's own sister Rodena Preston accompanied on piano.
Other musical guests included Preston's long-time gospel troupe the COGICS, former Temptations lead singer Ali "Ollie" Woodson, and singer Merry Clayton, who said she had known Preston since they were children.
The mourners also heard letters written by Sir Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and others who toured and recorded with Preston. "I am deeply saddened to lose such a wonderful friend," McCartney wrote. "I love you Billy." Bonnie Raitt, also in a letter, said Preston was "one of the most soulful artists I ever knew".
"We've come not just to be sad but to praise a good life," Bishop Noel Jones said during the eulogy.
