Gm C
Verse 1: Singing a sweet lazy song,

F Dm7
whistling like the wind on roof-tops,

Gm C
knowing I will never go wrong,

F F7
‘cause time’s stopped on the flower-clock.

Gm C
Picking words to ask you to be mine,

F Dm7
on a Mersey ferry by the pier-head,

Gm C
all the while walking so high

F F7
on water in far-off Rishikesh…

Gm C F Gm
Chorus 1: Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
she’s the singer in our brand-new band…

Gm C F Gm
When we get older, many, many years from now,

Gm C F F7
we’ll still be kissing and holding hands.

Gm C F Dm7
Bridge: Love’s a mystery, so what’s the meaning of life?

Gm C F Dm7
Draw me sketch and I’ll guess what it’s all about…

Gm C F Dm7
I’ll show you a trick, I’ll draw a rabbit from a hat,

Gm G C C7
and I can even see the love that’s singing in your eyes !

Gm C
Verse 2: Staying in the heart of the country,

F Dm7
white clouds floating across the sky,

Gm C
can’t think of anything as lovely

F F7
as the ageless miracle of life…

Gm C
Laughing in the sun and planting trees,

F Dm7
or hiding in the shadow of the woods…

Gm C
Feeling free to wander in the breeze,

F F7
and listening to the sound of running brooks…

Gm C
Verse 3: Talking in the dead of night,

F Dm7
reliving hopes turned into memories,

Gm C
treasured dreams from a lost paradise

F F7
once written down in our old diaries…

Gm C
Oh yes, jawing in the dead of night,

F Dm7
reliving young hopes turned to memories,

Gm C
treasured dreams from a lost paradise-

F7
Ooh la di!

Gm C F Gm
Chorus 2: Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
she’s the singer in our brand-new band…

(so, let us sing)

Gm C F Gm
Outro: Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
she’s the singer in our brand-new band…

Gm C F Gm
When we get older, many years from now,

Gm C F F
we’ll let the children lend us a hand…

Gm C F Gm
Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
gonna send her a romantic valentine…

Gm C F Gm
A bunch of red roses will lift her feet off the ground-

Gm C F F
it won’t be long before she drops me a line.

Fading instrumental…

Chorus 1: Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
she’s the singer in our brand-new band…

Gm C F Gm
When we get older, many, many years from now,

Gm C F F7
we’ll still be kissing and holding hands.

Gm C F Dm7
Bridge: Love’s a mystery, so what’s the meaning of life?

Gm C F Dm7
Draw me sketch and I’ll guess what it’s all about…

Gm C F Dm7
I’ll show you a trick, I’ll draw a rabbit from a hat,

Gm G C C7
and I can even see the love that’s singing in your eyes !

Gm C
Verse 2: Staying in the heart of the country,

F Dm7
white clouds floating across the sky,

Gm C
can’t think of anything as lovely

F F7
as the ageless miracle of life…

Gm C
Laughing in the sun and planting trees,

F Dm7
or hiding in the shadow of the woods…

Gm C
Feeling free to wander in the breeze,

F F7
and listening to the sound of running brooks…

Gm C
Verse 3: Talking in the dead of night,

F Dm7
reliving hopes turned into memories,

Gm C
treasured dreams from a lost paradise

F F7
once written down in our old diaries…

Gm C
Oh yes, jawing in the dead of night,

F Dm7
reliving young hopes turned to memories,

Gm C
treasured dreams from a lost paradise-

F7
Ooh la di!

Gm C F Gm
Chorus 2: Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

When we get older, many years from now,

Gm C F F
we’ll let the children lend us a hand…

Gm C F Gm
Ooh la di ooh la da, Mary’s the talk of the town,

Gm C F F
gonna send her a romantic valentine…

Gm C F Gm
A bunch of red roses will lift her feet off the ground-

Gm C F F
it won’t be long before she drops me a line.

Fading instrumental…
